Forging factory briefs on the basics of forgings

Time : 2018-08-01

1. When considering the forging temperature, the temperature drop during the contact between the blank and the tooling should be considered, and the tooling should be preheated.

2. For alloys with high degree of difficult to deform alloys, slow deformation should be used as much as possible, and the amount of deformation per stroke of each hammer or press should be controlled. Generally, it is controlled at about 20%. For speed sensitive materials, the deformation speed is selected. To consider the temperature effect at the same time.

3. The plasticity of closed die forging is better than that of open die forging, while the open die forging is better than free forging. In the free forging process, the length of the anvil and the upset of the ring are longer than the flat anvil. The band-shaped upsetting can better exert the plasticity of the metal.

4. When the low plasticity is lengthened, attention should be paid to selecting the appropriate feed ratio. When the feed ratio is too small, the deformation is concentrated in the upper and lower parts, the center is forged, and tensile stress is generated along the axial direction, resulting in internal transverse cracks. In the case of upsetting, soft padding is often used for upsetting or stacking (for forging pizza-shaped parts) to improve the unevenness of deformation and prevent surface cracks.

5. When considering the forging process, especially the forging of the last fire, it should be avoided as much as possible under the critical deformation level to avoid the coarse grain structure. Specifically, the metal is good at high temperature and the deformation resistance is small. It should be forged with a large deformation amount far greater than the critical deformation degree; when the low temperature correction is used, the local deformation is performed with a small deformation amount lower than the critical deformation degree.
